General Maintenance Worker
Job Title: General Maintenance Worker – Head Office, Strood

Reporting to: Estate Manager

Location: Head Office, Strood

MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING: FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE, PROOF OF BEING ABLE TO WORK IN ENGLAND

Job Description

To be responsible for the maintenance of the interior and the exterior of the premises and its grounds; duties will include the following:

General Maintenance:

  • To report any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture or equipment, and any other potential hazards to the manager, who will advise accordingly
  • To resolve or assist in the general repair and maintenance both externally and internally to promote effective operation and service
  • To conduct maintenance of the grounds to an acceptable standard to promote a pleasant and safe environment for staff and visitors
  • To carry out decoration as and when required to maintain the standard of the buildings
  • To assist with testing the fire alarm system and to check call points, fire exits, door-retaining devices and fire emergency lights, as specified in organisation procedures
  • To ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean; to replace any defective light bulbs or diffusers
  • To assist with the general oversight of the heating, lighting and use of water at the premises
  • To keep a “maintenance book” in which defects are recorded by staff members; to use this book to effect repairs or replacements daily

Communication:

  • To liaise with the manager, a delegated staff member and relevant contractors regarding maintenance work to be carried out
  • To participate in staff and client meetings as required

Training and Development:

  • To attend mandatory training days or courses (on or off site) as and when required
  • To maintain professional knowledge and competence

Health and Safety:

  • To ensure that equipment is used correctly and safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • To ensure that paints and varnishes are used and stored only in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
  • To ensure that areas in which any painting or varnishing work is being done are well-ventilated and safe for clients, visitors and staff members
  • To report immediately to the manager or person in charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a client, colleague, self or another
  • To understand and ensure implementation of the health and safety regulations, infection control and hygiene policies, and the emergency and fire procedures
  • To promote safe working practice on the premises
  • To clean up any spillages that you have made, found or been asked to by the person in charge
  • To be aware that the site has adopted a NO SMOKING policy that applies to all posts within the premises (smoking may be carried out in a designated area outside)

General:

  • To adhere to all new initiatives and to any changes in existing local and central government initiatives as and when they are implemented
  • To inform the manager or person in charge of any visit to the site by contractors; to undertake driving duties if required
  • To promote and ensure the good reputation of the company
  • To ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
  • To notify the manager or person in charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also of your return to work from all periods of absence
  • To adhere to all organisation policies and procedures within the defined timescales
  • To ensure the workshop is clean and well-maintained
  • To carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
  • Where a ‘fault’ cannot be rectified, to provide details of the fault to the manager or person in charge as soon as possible so that services are not disrupted for lengthy periods and so appropriate instructions can be given regarding the action to take

Mobile/Depot Based Plant Fitter - H. E. Services (Plant Hire) Ltd - Hungerford Depot

Job Title: Mobile/Depot Based Plant Fitter

Reporting to: The Depot Manager

Working Hours: 40 hours per week – flexible

Salary: £18.00 – £20.00 per hour depending on experience + overtime

Location: Hungerford

Purpose:

We have a vacancy for a plant fitter to join our busy team based out of our Hungerford Depot. You will be required to provide effective fitting and servicing requirements for heavy plant machinery. You will be able to diagnose faults, service and repair a range of equipment including excavators up to 50T, dumpers, telehandlers and rollers. You will be expected to manage your time efficiently and effectively whilst developing/maintaining relationships with our customers. A company van will be provided to enable you to reach our clients, returning to the depot when completed.

Primary Responsibilities:

As part of your duties you will be required to attend to routine servicing and maintenance of heavy plant machinery including Telehandlers, Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers, Tracked loaders (Bobcats) etc. Diagnostic checks and fault finding. Repairs as necessary to ensure hire equipment is fit for purpose. Completion of pre and post hire checks.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience of working with heavy construction plant and equipment
  • Ability to investigate/diagnose technical faults
  • Work to high standards, with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with depot personnel and customers.
  • Full driving licence
  • CSCS card
  • Own tools

HGV Class 1 Driver - H. E. Services (Plant Hire) Ltd - Hungerford Depot

Job Title: HGV Class 1 Driver

Reporting to: Depot Manager

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00 – 4.30pm less 30min lunch but some early starts and weekend work may be required

Salary: Up to £16.50 per hour depending on experience

Location: Hungerford

Purpose:

To join an established team of drivers within our Hungerford Depot working for the UK’s largest specialist excavator hire company.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collection and delivery of a range of equipment to customers across the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors. The role will involve the loading, delivery and collecting of construction equipment including Diggers, Dumpers, Telehandlers etc). Driver must be confident to be able to load and unload the equipment onto the lorry and deliver it safely and also participate in yard duties.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience – minimum of 6 months HGV driving experience commercially in the UK
  • Driving Licence with C+E category, CPC Qualification Card, DQC
  • Experience preferred in operating/moving plant but training can be given.
  • Positive attitude
  • Willingness to work some additional or weekend hours is desirable
  • Driving experience: 5 years
  • Load & Secure (preferred).
